Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a windscreen repair take?

Chip repair usually takes around 30 minutes, so in most cases you can get back on the road the same day.

Is the repair covered by my insurance?

Yes. In many cases, windscreen repair can be covered by comprehensive insurance (AC) or a dedicated glass policy. We help with all the paperwork and settling the claim with your insurer.

What does a windscreen repair look like?

The damaged area is thoroughly cleaned and dried. Then the chip is filled with a special resin under pressure. After curing it with UV light, we remove any excess material and polish the glass surface.

Can every type of damage be repaired?

No. Repair is usually possible for chips up to 22 mm in diameter that are located at least 10 cm from the edge of the glass and outside the driver’s field of vision. Damage in the direct field of vision does not qualify for repair, because the resin may refract light differently than glass. Windscreens with a sun-protection coating also cannot be repaired. The final qualification is always confirmed by a specialist after assessing the damage.

Does it matter how long ago the damage occurred?

Yes. The sooner the damage is repaired, the greater the chance of an effective fix. Over time, the chip can fill with dirt and moisture, which makes it harder to carry out the service properly. Everyday vibrations and temperature changes can also cause the chip to turn into a crack that will require a windscreen replacement.
